“TREX:LAB Technologies” is a design and innovation lab working with “OriMetric”, a new computational material derived from intelligent geometric patterns inspired by origami. At the time of this project, TREX:LAB was looking for new applications and products with specific added value where the material properties and production methods were appropriately utilized.

In the class 'Material and Process Oriented Design we were tasked to design out-of-the-box solutions for the "Orimetric" material. This assignment emphasised on usability, esthetics and functionality, with focus on small volume manufacturing.

After many tests and explorations we decided to make a cover for a sleeping bag. This isn't only a cover for a sleeping bag. Thanks to the properties of the material it functions as a multi purpose bag, aimed primarily at campers. The Orimetric material allowed for storage of products of many shapes and sizes, while not taking in much space itself, thanks to the way that Orimetric behaves.
